The summer season is well and truly underway now at Hartley. Alfresco dining outside The Barn and ice creams outside the cabin are a daily occurrence now.
We are so lucky to be surrounded by the most beautiful countryside and a brief pitstop at Hartley before an exploration of the footpaths and woods around us is a perfect way to enjoy those summer days. With our new play area also open, it’s the perfect time to let the little ones run off some steam while you recharge!
This time of year is when the fields are filled with animals again, as we and our neighbouring farmers take advantage of the dry ground and growing grass. It’s also an opportune time to spotlight The Countryside Code. As beautiful as the countryside is, it’s always wise to remember it is some people’s place of work too and there are risks particularly when walking through fields with livestock. The Winsley Parish Council have very kindly helped by providing dog litter bins at the entrance and exit to the farm to help keep the countryside as enjoyable for all as possible!
Back in the Farm Shop, the summer sizzle has begun with Kevin and the butchery team’s wonderful BBQ selection. The butchers have also started selling fresh fish and seafood on Fridays and Saturdays. If there is anything you would like them to order for you, get in touch before the end of the day on Wednesday for us to order in time for Friday’s collection.
At Hartley, our summer events schedule is hotting up too! Below is a list of what is to come over the next few months:
- 7th June – Friday Night Pizzas until 7:30 pm
- 9th June – A Day on the Farm – our family-friendly open day (book online)
- 14th July – Colour Clamber – Our farmer-style family obstacle course with live music and BBQ (book online)
Enjoy the sunshine!
All the best
Tom
