This month see us celebrate our 15th birthday! On a sunny Wednesday the 20th of August 2008, Hartley Farm opened the doors to the farm shop. A few second-hand fridges selling local meat, fruit and veg, a few freshly painted Ikea shelves with a few jars on and a scattering of reclaimed cafe tables serving some freshly made sandwiches (sometimes even made by me) and an urn of hot soup (made by mum) and we were ready to go!
So many of you still recall those days and share your stories of watching Hartley grow, which is so lovely for us to hear. We’ve even had some students on work experience recently who I remember coming here as toddlers in the early days. We feel incredibly grateful to be part of our local community and creating special memories with every visit is still our mission today!
So to celebrate, we are putting on a do! On August 12th, we will be hosting our Party in the Paddock. There will be a BBQ, live music, kids’ entertainment, local producer tastings and hopefully lots of sunshine. The event is free to attend and no prior booking is needed.
